Partners Desk
Ming Shaker Desk: I designed and built the first of these Partners Desks for Mr. Bothwick who, over time, furnished his whole law office with my furniture. Included in his office are this desk, a credenza, four chairs, and a drop-leaf round conference table, all of which incorporate details from my Ming Shaker Line. The desk and credenza were inspired by Don's Desk (AKA: Ming Shaker Writing Desk). Don deserves credit for the unifying detail of that desk: the circle arc that continues from the pigeon holes through the front of the desk skirt. This desk is cherry with birdseye maple top panels, a birdseye maple band at the top of the skirt, and birdseye maple drawer fronts. Three drawers grace the lawyer's side of the desk, the center of which has a lock. On the client side you find a pull-out work surface.
It is large enough to serve as a traditional partners desk and could be modified with drawers on both sides to accommodate two people. I have since sold three more of these desks, one of which can be seen in the following link: Ming Shaker Partners Desk

Ming Shaker Writing Desk
Ming Shaker Writing Desk: This is a candidate for my signature piece, but I cannot take full credit for it's design. I originally drew a writing desk with lots of arcs and my "Ming Shaker" detailing. The customer came back with a design in which the curve in the pigeon hole console carries on through to the lower drawer frame. I modified his design to be sturdier and this is the result. That carry-through curve makes the piece! I have made this desk in two other sizes. Pictured in cherry with birdseye maple panels and drawer fronts, it features ebonized walnut drawer pulls. I have also made a solid cherry version. I could also incorporate other combinations of wood or use the single wood species of your choice.
