My Ming Shaker Line began during my second year in business. A friend,and first year law school professor, took on grading extra exams in order to earn enough money to help me stay in business by commissioning some nesting tables and night stands. The nightstands were unremarkable, but the nesting tables with their "round-under/round-over" top detail and simple tapered legs were a hit with my friend and subsequent visitors to my shop. When I presented a set to the League of N.H. Craftsmen in a successful effort to become a juried member, one of the judges declared them to be" Ming Shaker" in style and the name stuck. Over the last13 years I have added the pieces pictured , have drawings for several other items, and now consider the collection a small "line" of furniture. It will continue to expand as I have time to draw or build on speculation or as customers comission other items in the style.
